Glamour Shoot – Illawarra Photographer – Make Up Artist / Olivia Clee

Welcome to the extended blog post of my collaboration shoot with Make up artist – Olivia Clee.

This was shot in Olivia’s side yard, a little empty block of grass next door. I was so happy to see the 4pm afternoon light peeking over the horizon, it created a block of yellow warm light .. mmm. I was aiming for a low contrast natural look to her head shots and limiting the half/full body shots. Showing off Olivia’s expertise was my main priority, and ofcourse Sarah didn’t make it hard for the images to look absolutely stunning!

First shot – I believe this one set me back at about 1.2 hours to edit. I thought well you know I have the time, so I nit picked a little with the glamour retouching. I gave her the entire treatment:

-Eye pop with the dodge and burn tool both set to midtones, at about 15% opacity.

-Airbrush is ofcourse, a girl’s best friend. The funny thing is, is that I am not lying! I am doing corporate shots for a team of wise women at Hillross in Fairy Meadow and they specifically said ‘we’re a team of women, so airbrush would definately be desired LOL’. I love adding that touch of TLC.. People are amazed, and sometimes ask, Is that really me? But Wooooah hold on there.. I do know of some evil people who over do it so I try to keep mine as subtle as possible but still adding a glamour feel to the image.

-Contouring was one of the last steps in this image. Basically what contouring is, is accentuating the highlights and shadows tones in the skin, well contouring in many forms anyway 🙂 ..I believe I had the opacity for dodge on 12% on ‘highlights’, and burn on 14% on ‘shadows’.

This was shot on f/1.8 and the bokeh is schweeeet! Even the simplest of shots can look so effective with very shallow focus. I love the second shot of the sequence because it’s so Sarah! lol and actually these shots hardly required any retouching at all. Her eyes are seriously that bright.

This left shot I lovvvee! Yummy back light.. check! Lens flare.. check! Textured backdrop.. check! Yeowww!

..

And up close and personal..

Bokeh and more bokeh 🙂

..

Olivia agrees with me when I say Sarah reminds me of Snow White in these two photos (above and below) ..*sigh

..

And the last one.. went down to Mt Warrigal Jetty to shoot some dusk shots, not on purpose though LOL The whole daylight savings thing kills us photographers when it’s not around.. the sun disappears at 5:15!!! 🙁 ..my life will soon come to a halt where I will discover how to freeze the earth’s orbit.. but until that day I’ll just suck it up..
