Round two with the Orbis Ring Flash. My good friend Ian Sackett, from Wollongong Camera House, sold me one of these only a month ago and have loved it ever since! The only downfall is losing up to 4 stops of light from your 580Ex 2 speedlight though 🙁 *sobs. But it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to take! 🙂
But if you’re like me and spend most of your time with hectic time-pressing weddings and you don’t have all the minutes in the world to work with a beauty dish, I recommend this Ring Flash.
In this shot it, Orbis ring flash was about 40 cm away from her face illuminating her right cheek. And on the other side we have a translucent diffuser blocking out the harsh nature of that afternoon sunlight (hence the slight yellow tint which I can live with) hehe

Went over and added a slight airbrush (not that she really needed it).. Which brings me back to the days of cheezy Gaussian Blur Airbrush *shivers* ..I look back on the days where I was just learning basics of photoshop and thought I was really cool for overdoing the skin smoothing, haha little did I know, it actually looked quite wrong. Here I am 3 years later, learning the lesson the hard way.
